CEF of Benton County
CEF has specialized in teaching the Bible to children for over 80 years. The Benton County Chapter currently has three staff working in the office and on the field. Our local chapter also has a committee that makes decisions regarding both current and future outreaches, funding, and CEF related functions. This committee is made up of local individuals from churches throughout the county. Many volunteers assist us in teaching the children’s Bible classes, preparing materials, and multiple other needs associated with the ministry.
CEF of Benton County serves the cities in the local area including Corvallis, North Albany, Philomath, Blodgett, Bellfountain, Monroe, Alsea, and Kings Valley. We are committed to helping local churches and individuals evangelize and disciple children.
We encourage you to take a look at our website for more information about the local CEF chapter, current programs, events, and future opportunities. Relationship to Local Churches
CEF is a service organization – an “outreach” or “missionary arm” of your church. The purpose of CEF is to reach children who are not attending church and who may not otherwise hear the Gospel. After a child makes a commitment to follow Christ, CEF continues to nurture the child in their faith and tries to establish them in a local church. Often the child’s entire family will become interested in attending church and hearing the Gospel.
CEF directors can provide training for church workers, hold meetings with the children and provide guidance as the church extends it’s outreach.
The committee, staff and volunteers of CEF are members of local churches. CEF works to reach the multitude of children that no one else is reaching with the Gospel. CEF builds up these children in faith, through systematic teaching of God’s word and encouraging them to have daily devotions, to witness for the Lord, to attend church regularly and to have an active interest in missions.
CEF also has excellent teaching materials, teaching aids, videos and curriculum that are available for church use in outreach programs, Sunday school, children’s church and weekly Bible clubs for children.
CEF conducts regular teacher training classes to help teachers and future teachers learn how to effectively share the Gospel with children and nurture them in their faith. These classes provide help in preparing and presenting Bible lessons, leading a child to Christ, music, missions, program correlation, visual aids, learning incentives and understanding child development.
CEF acts the part of a catalyst to encourage churches to reach all the children in their community. Children are the easiest of all ages to reach. A recent poll of all Christians attending churches in the United States revealed that at least 85% committed their lives to Christ as children. Because of this fact, churches are encouraged to continue and even increase their efforts to reach the children of their communities with the Gospel.
Finances
CEF is supported entirely through individual gifts of the Lord’s people and contributions from churches and church-related groups. This is a faith-based ministry whose policy is, “Ask God and tell His people.”
